I found Chris Nolan's presentation very interesting. I typically use google as my search engine of choice, and I was excited to see the different facets of it that I had never used before. Google scholar is a great resource that I had never even heard of before. I was especially surprised to learn that they put the full text of many novels, short stories, and essays on the web!

Copyright Infringement
The woman who chose to legally pursue the copyright infringement of the photograph of her son in Norway was right to do so, her rights as a legal owner of that photograph were infringed upon. In the United States a similar legal route may have been followed in a case like hers. Despite the fact that a photograph, essay, film, animation, or sound bite can be found for "free" use on the internet does not mean you are allowed to reproduce it without the proper notification of the owner or the proper citation. If you fail to do so, then you are infringing upon the owner's rights.
If the publishers had held themselves accountable, or used the proper citation then no monetary reimbursement would have been necessary; but when they were not accommodating and showed no interest in properly citing her photograph, forcing her to pursue legal help--monetary reimbursement is the proper punishment and reward for both the defendant and the prosecutor.

Effective Powerpoint Presentations
Being a full-time student since the age of four, I have seen and made many a powerpoint presentation. In my own assignments I try to make colorful yet organized powerpoints incorporating pictures, different fonts, graphics, and clipart, but I have found many of my teachers use a different approach. In my Principles of Psychology class my professor uses very bland black and white slides with only keywords of information. While it's very pragmatic, and probably most effecient to make, I find it pretty boring to pay attention to. My eighth and ninth grade biology teacher also used powerpoints as a teaching tool, but his were much more colorful, and incorporated lots of pretty pictures--which I personally prefer.
